Launch details

DJI released the Mic Mini 2S on 4 August 2026. According to TechRadar, a single transmitter costs £59, a kit with one transmitter and one receiver £79, and the two-transmitter kit with receiver and charging case £169; a bundle that adds a phone receiver costs £183. Engadget gives €189 and C$265 for the two-mic kit, and €99 and C$149 for the smartphone kit. Engadget and TechRadar both say it is not officially available in the US, because of regulatory obstacles. Digital Camera World and SoundGuys, however, show US retailer listings, with $191 quoted for the two-mic kit, so availability and prices in the US depend on the seller.

Each transmitter weighs 12g, and the receiver 19g. The range reaches 400m with the standard receiver and 300m with the phone receiver, according to TechRadar. CGMagazine notes it works with DJI's earlier Mic Mini, Mic 2 and Mic 3.

What is new

  • Internal recording: each transmitter stores about 14.5GB, enough for roughly 22 hours in 32-bit float or 28 hours in 24-bit (TechRadar). If the wireless link drops, the recording on the mic is a backup.
  • 32-bit float: this format makes clipped, distorted audio far less likely when someone suddenly speaks loudly.
  • AI noise cancelling: two levels, which TechRadar calls a clear step up from the Mic Mini 2.
  • Four mics: one receiver now accepts up to four transmitters, instead of two.
  • Battery: 11 hours per transmitter and 10 hours for the receiver, with about 40 hours in total using the case.
  • Small touches: magnetic colour covers, automatic gain features such as Clipping Control, and faster file transfers.

What it does not do

  • No pro film tools: like the Mini 2, it lacks the Mic 3's timecode, dual-file recording and touchscreen receiver, according to TechRadar and SoundGuys.
  • Files: Digital Camera World notes that long recordings are split into several files.
  • Branding and app: Engadget regrets that the DJI logo on the transmitters cannot be hidden, and SoundGuys found adverts on the app's home page.

Verdict

The Mic Mini 2S is one of the easiest recommendations for creators who film themselves: tiny, light, simple, and now protected by an internal 32-bit float backup. TechRadar calls it "the new sweet spot" in DJI's range. If you need timecode or a receiver with a screen, look at the DJI Mic 3; if budget matters most, TechRadar says the standard Mic Mini 2 is still a very capable mic. It pairs naturally with DJI cameras such as the Osmo Pocket 4P. In the US, check the seller and warranty carefully, since DJI has not launched it there officially.
