Two award winners

At the Tom's Guide Awards 2026, the LG C6 was named best TV overall and the Samsung S90H best gaming TV. Both are mid-range OLED models that sit below each brand's flagship models, such as Samsung's S95H. Tom's Guide tested the two side by side and concluded that their performance is "almost the same"; RTINGS reaches a similar conclusion, saying neither is better across the board and that the right choice depends on your room.

Picture quality

Both TVs are accurate out of the box, and Tom's Guide says neither needs professional calibration. The S90H reaches slightly higher HDR highlights and covers a wider colour gamut in Tom's Guide's measurements, while the C6 is much brighter with ordinary SDR content such as TV shows and sport. RTINGS describes the C6 as the better choice for a home theatre, thanks to brighter HDR in its tests, Dolby Vision support and better picture processing.

The biggest difference is the screen surface. The S90H's matte finish reduces reflections from windows and lamps, which makes it easier to watch in a bright living room. The C6's glossy screen gives deeper-looking blacks in a dim room but shows more reflections.

Gaming

For console and PC players, the two are practically tied. Both have four HDMI 2.1 inputs, 4K at 120 Hz on PS5 and Xbox Series X, up to 165 Hz from a PC, variable refresh rate, auto low-latency mode and AMD FreeSync Premium. Input lag is about 9 ms on both, which is excellent. RTINGS also says both offer the same gaming features.

Smart features and design

LG's webOS 26 works without a streaming box, but Tom's Guide finds it full of ads and sometimes slow. Samsung's Tizen interface gains a useful quick-access menu. The C6 has a wedge-shaped stand and a motion-control remote; the S90H sits higher on a flat plate stand, which can be awkward with a soundbar, and its solar-charging remote has no dedicated input button.

Which one should you buy?

  • You watch films in a dark room and stream in Dolby Vision (Netflix, Disney+, Apple TV): the LG C6.
  • Your living room gets a lot of daylight: the Samsung S90H, for its matte screen.
  • You mostly play on PS5, Xbox or PC: either; they are tied on gaming features.
  • You want a 77- or 83-inch screen: compare the S90H with the LG C6H, which uses a different, brighter panel that Tom's Guide had not yet tested.
  • You already own a Samsung phone and SmartThings devices: the S90H fits that ecosystem.
  • You watch a lot of regular TV and sport: the LG C6, which is brighter in SDR.

Verdict

The LG C6 and the Samsung S90H are so close that the room decides. Tom's Guide recommends the C6 "for most people", mainly because of Dolby Vision and its slightly lower price in 65 inches. The S90H is the better pick for bright rooms, thanks to its matte anti-glare screen.
